Lava seems to have discreetly launched a new entry-level Android
smartphone called the Iris 401e. The smartphone was spotted by
NDTVGadgets on an e-commerce site available for Rs 4,249 (USD 80).
Talking of specifications, the Iris 401e sports a 4-inch WVGA (480×800
pixels) display and is powered by a 1GHz processor paired with 256MB of
RAM. Other features included on the phone are a 3-megapixel rear camera
with LED flash, 200MB of internal memory that can expandable using a
microSD card and a 1,500mAh battery that the company claims will survive
through 6 hours of talk time.
Connectivity-wise the phone has
dual-SIM card slots and features 2G (EDGE) support, Wi-Fi, GPRS,
Bluetooth and on the software front, the device runs on Android 2.3
Gingerbread and comes pre-loaded with apps like Saavn, WeChat, Ninja
Rush, Dragon Hunter, Space Off, Lava Zone and Opera Mini browser. Priced
at Rs 4,249, it will up against the likes of other entry-level
smartphones like Micromax A27 Ninja and the Karbonn 1+ among others.
